Project Description:

Location: 2047 Mc Closky Street, Austin, Texas

Owner: Catellus Development Group

Architect: Studio 8 Architects

Description: Ella Wooten Park was created to serve as a gathering space for the first Mueller Austin neighborhood. The anchor for the 2.5-acre park is the pool house, which contains a staff office, changing areas, vending, and restroom facilities. There is also a junior Olympic-sized, 5-lane lap pool, a basketball court, playscape, bath houses and shaded picnic areas. Its design pays homage to classic Austin swimming facilities such as Deep Eddy and Barton Springs, combining natural and indigenous materials to create a simple, yet elegant structure. This project received a four-star rating from Austin Energy’s Green Building Program.
