Description: The Bobcat Trail Redevelopment Project was designed as the new main entrance to the university which encompassed repurposing (converting) three roadways into a pedestrian mall featuring native trees, grass, shrubbery, and paving stone pathways. Bobcat Trail was the completion of the 10 Year Campus Plan. The Bobcat Trail Redevelopment Project at Texas State University was part of the University’s 10 Year Campus Master Plan (2006-2015) that focused on guiding the growth of Texas State as a student-centered campus. The project was designed as the new main entrance to the university which encompassed re purposing (converting) three roadways into a pedestrian mall featuring native trees, grass, shrubbery, and paving stone pathways. Bobcat Trail is the crowning showcase of the “gray-to-green” initiative that has transformed other areas of the campus from building space to grassy parks and sidewalks. It was the completion of the 10 Year Campus Plan. As the general contractor, Flynn Construction provided invaluable assistance in fulfilling the University’s goal to create a pedestrian-oriented campus. The impact of this project on the campus of Texas State University and its future students is significant. By providing free, open spaces for students to meet, Bobcat Trail will enable a greater sense of campus life and community so vital to the University.
